Walterre has a birding checklist of over 350 species. We will be happy to provide you with a checklist if you like. The elusive Nepal Cupwing (formerly known as the Nepal Wren-babbler) was first found in India in the gardens of Walterre. Five species of sunbirds are found regularly feeding in the garden. The nearby Tauns River is also a great place for birding, with forktails, dippers, and more, adding to the birdlist of the area. Additional popular nearby birdwatching sites include Asan Barrage, Chandrabani Wildlife Sanctuary, and Rajaji National Park.
